Printing question

In preparation for VorpalCon next week, I have to print out the character sheets and other assorted stuff for the games.

12/1 I don't have to print out (thankfully) as I have spare copies from the previous run.

However I will need to print out Homeward Bound and Pathway to Eternity.

Previously I printed everything at work, as they didn't mind (what I did for a con was a drop in the ocean compared to the monthly reports they had to print). However, I'd rather not do that here.

So, what are my options? We've printed at Officeworks before, and will never print there again (ask travisjhall if you want to know why), but I've never printed at any of the other printing places.

Luckily the printing this time is fairly basic. Pathway is 38 pages of character sheets, Homeward is 27 pages, plus about another dozen or two pages of notes, sign on sheets, name badges, etc, all in single sided black and white.

Anyone have any suggestions? I need this done by Thursday next week as we're flying down on Friday.

Printing
Buy a Canon iP5200 and some 150gsm paper - for the outlay of $150-200 for the printer you will never have to use a printshop again.

The iP5200 does A4 and smaller, so unless you're printing on A3 (which I doubt you are) you're set.

Re: Printing

He's already got a printer. It gets regular use here at home. However, printing large volumes at home is still expensive due to consumables.

I bought a much more expensive printer for roleplaying purposes, but that's because it gives me the added bonus of printing anywhere, any time. I can POD a freeform in five minutes at a con site during a blackout. Still expensive, though.

Re: Printing
What he said.

I have a printer at home, which does a lot of the basic printing.

The issue is that if I'm gearing up for a big convention (Conquest comes to mind) I can print almost a full ream of paper in the week leading up to it. There is no way I'm going to print almost 500 sheets on my printer at home. There is no way it could cope.

What I need is some place that can do that printing, at a reasonable price. It's not going to be as much of a problem with this convention as I only need one copy of each game, and I actually have two of the three games already printed (found a copy of Homeward Bound that I'd printed off for a previous running). So, I only have about 50 pages total needing to be printed.

I just felt that now would be a better time to start looking, instead of a week before the next big con!

So, how you been?

Nothing else to say ...

Dunno how pricey Kinkos are, but they have a few stores. Snap were a bit on the top edge when I tried last, but they were quick... Monash Uni caulfield does printing for external people, there might be similar setups at RMIT or Melbourne or?

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
