It's Christmas time

And that means it's time once again to share things like this:

In case you don't know, the music is called "Wizards in Winter" by a band called Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

The clip you are watching is the result of a guy in the US (Mason, Ohio to be exact) who set up the lights to work with a computer module. This module synchronized the lights to activate in a set sequence that matched the music. The music was played over a short range FM band so as not to annoy his neighbours.

This is not time-lapse photography, nor is it computer generated. This is real, and was taken in 2004.

More details of the guy in question can be found at his Wikipedia entry.

I think if I had a rave, music or not, outside my house I'd be a bit fucked off. Well, if it went on for more than a few days.

He got asked to take it down because of the traffic problems it was creating...

Dog help any of his neighbours who were epileptics.

Not surprised, truly.

It's a lovely concept, but it'd be really freaking annoying. Having lived with a Christmas lights nutter as well, I'm a bit over the concept.

And if anyone wants any of the TSO music, I have the whole collection...

This can be done very easily. Getting it to you might be slightly more problematic but I'm sure we can work something out.

Yousendit, megaupload, gmail, or I'm leaving the country rather soon so I've no qualms about emailing my postal address. :) If any of those are good for you, of course.

Can you handle a 420Mb download, once I get it up to my server?

Yep!

We've just got back from holidays, so we're not even crippled this month! We can handle... not quite anything, but a fair bit. Thank you!

Here you go...

Unfortunately I had to upload them as individual files because the server kept choking on a half-gig zip file.

Heh, I can't blame it.

Thank you so much for these!

Hmm...

I know you've given me their full collection before, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.

Can I grab it again off you as well?

Thanks.

Can that, I just found them again.

Just been copied to the Mac so I don't loose them again.

Thanks anyway.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
