An invitation

I spent part of today on the beach, having a look around St Kilda. While the other beaches recommended by people sound good, I've never been to them, and I don't feel right inviting people to a place that I don't know anything about.

As a result, I would like to invite people to attend my 33 and a third beach party this Saturday on the beach at St Kilda. I'm intending to be there from about 4pm, until I get around to leaving, probably after sun set. If you turn up, you might want to ring me on my mobile to find out exactly where I am, if you can't find me. If you don't have my mobile number and want it, reply to this post with an email address and I'll send it to you.

There are no BBQ facilities that I was able to see there, so no BBQ, however I'm planning on bringing snack food and the like that doesn't need a BBQ. No glass is allowed on the actual beach, but on the grass areas it should be ok. Bring plenty of sun screen, as it looks like it's going to be very hot and sunny on Saturday (Google weather is currently predicting a top of 37. Tomorrow I'm planning on buying some portable shade of some sort). Luna Park will be open until 11pm on Saturday.

So, to recap:

Why: My 33&1/3rd beach party
Where: St Kilda Beach, Melbourne, Australia
When: Saturday the 29th of December, from 4:00pm onwards
What: Bring sun screen, food if you so desire. Plenty of places to eat on Fitzroy St if you don't want to bring anything. Beach games are probably a good thing to also bring. Hats too.
How: Driving is possible, or for those on Public transport both the number 96 and the number 16 trams go right past the beach. The number 112 stops at Fitzroy St, just a short distance away.

Hope to see you there.

Also, the 246 bus (Elsternwick to Latrobe Uni via Hoddle/Punt) passes along Barkly Street a couple of blocks away from the beach :)

Do what I can, fella.

Sorry about the lateness of my RSVPage, and the non-committal answer, but I'm still unsure. My answer is a definite "I'll try!"-- I have work tomorrow (9-5) and I'm up in Parkville-- though transport to St. Kilda shouldn't be too difficult. I've got your number, though, and I'll ring at the end of my shift to see if you're still around and let you know what sort of state I'm in. :)

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
