About to get Lost!

I just got a bit bored at work and updated the Lost in Melbourne website. Nothing major, just added a page for the next event and updated the formatting a bit.

Of course, if Travis looked at it he'd be horrified, because it still uses tables for layout (shock! horror!). However, don't worry, I'm intending to change it all over to a proper table-free, CSS based layout when I get the time (currently April looks good).

Current plan is to leave work early at about 5:30 or so, and take a Tram into the city and visit Mind Games. I want to check out what other Changeling books they have, and possibly buy them. Also want to find some playing cards as well.

Then it's another Tram out to the location. I'm planning on stopping at the Subway at the corner of St Kilda Road and Toorak Rd to pick up dinner, and then to the park itself, hopefully arriving early.

While I know that it's not going to be a major thing tonight, I'm still panicking. This is normal to me.

At the moment I know of 5 player characters for the game, and that's it, and there's no guarantee that all 5 of the players will be making it. Since I have no idea who's turning up, and nothing has happened in this Venue in Melbourne before, very little can be planned. I have a few ideas of what to do, but mostly I will be winging it.

Thanks to the people who wished me well, and shared me their horror stories about the past. The Camarilla used to be full of fuck-wits, but as far as I can see their seems to be a lot less of them than there used to be. Wish me luck.

It should be fun, because if it isn't, I'll be walking away without so much as an apology.

*grumbles*
Nothing wrong with tabled layout. I've been doing tabled layout for over a dacade... and my webpage still looks as good as it did before the fancy flash revolution. Why? because gui internets understand it! Has been understanding it for years... then suddenly this newest shiney coding comes along, and everyone jumps on it like it's the new shockwave, or flash, or Web 2.0, and suddenly I'm shunned for not being fancy!
...Again!
It is another trend, it will die... and we will see the 'CSS for dummies' books in the discount bin alongside the 'make your own ICQ skins!' books.

Table-based layouts make Internet Baby Jesus cry at night. :-)

How'd the Changeling game go? I've always been pretty leery of the Camarilla (probably based on the same mixture of experiences, horror stories and knowing people from Brisbane that you've had) but if it's filled with Actual People... that could be fun!

Also, how'd the St Kilda beach party turn out, good sir?

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
