Nearly quarter of Brits think Churchill a myth: poll

23 percent of the people surveyed thought Winston Churchill was a fictional character, while 58 percent thought Sherlock Holmes was real.

People have so much more access to information now-a-days, but seem to have so much less understanding of it.

Sad really.

I love how people are arguing about Churchill's validity of judgment in the comments.

I read this this morning, and wondered how many of the people who knew Churchill was real, only knew this because they were alive when he was PM...

So sad really.

But then, I know a young man who was surprised to learn that there were Western monks, and that they didn't know martial arts.

I think that literacy and understanding of information is actually at an all-time high. Which puts the past into a very frightening perspective.

Well, to be fair, Churchill as generally presented: "a great man, savior of our country" is fictional.... the loony, alcoholic Fascist existed, but thats another matter.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
