Looking for...

So, does anyone know a good tailor or seamstress who would be good at repairing my jeans?

I currently have 4 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs each of 2 different styles. The 2 pairs of the much more comfortable style are wearing, and I really don't want to have to replace them since 95% of them is still perfectly fine, and it's only the small amount of material at the inner thighs that is worn (I have fat thighs, inherited from my father. Genetics is a bitch). So, I need someone to repair them for me.

Also while they're at it, I'll probably get them to shorten the legs for me (I have short legs, another thing I inherited from my father. See previous statement, re: Genetics).

The major restriction is that they have to be somewhere that I can access easily, so Brunswick or Coburg would be preferred, near Sydney Rd or Lygon St.

Anyone?

Iron on patches for inner seam is probably easiest. Trawl around spotlight on Sydney Rd, a few of the not-Spotlight fabric places have "we repair stuff" signs if I recall correctly

Iron patches are highly recommended, but if they are heavier material like denim jeans you will probably want to sew the patches as well as they wear off. As evidenced by me having to re-do enkorvaks pants, after having ironed and patches and him wearing them...

They're your standard denim jeans from Collorado, so will most likely need more than just the iron-ons.

There's a Clegs just up the road from work, so I think I might ask them.

I've tried those iron-on patches before, and they've never really held that well, so that's why I want to give repairing them an actual try.

If you haven't found one in a month or so let me know and I can do it. Unfortunately the sewing equipment is one area that is not set up and I was seriously considering putting it all in a storage unit.

However give me some time to finish getting settled and I'll drag it all out and see what I can for you - if you don't have a quicker response ....

A lot of dry cleaners do repairs and alterations...

I've never availed myself of such services, being of the sewing persuasion myself, but I gather that it's generally cheap and easy.

There's a repairs/alterations specialist place on corner of Elgin and Lygon. I saw them while walking home this afternoon.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
