Wedding in Canberra

I've been invited to weaselfetish's wedding in Canberra on the 13th of February. Of course, I completely forgot about it until now, and the RSVP date is tomorrow.

So, the question is, should I go? The answer to the question of do I want to go is quite obviously yes, the problem is can I do it cheaply enough to make it without blowing my budget. Flights are actually remarkably cheap ($59 each way) so the one sticking point is accommodation. Anyone in Canberra willing to host me from the Friday night until the Sunday? Preferably someone going to said wedding, which makes it easier.

We've (well, my parents) have a spare room, and we're going to the wedding. So you can stay with us if you like.

Ah, probelm solved then. I'dve offered, but as I'm part of the wedding party it might've made it difficult for you to actually get there.

That makes perfect sense.

Actually, not entirely solved. I know little about the details, because we only received one invitation between us and halloranelder has stashed the invite away somewhere, but I am invited, would like to come, and as yet don't have accommodation arranged. If it's not too inconvenient for you, might I stay in the bed you might otherwise have offered him? Don't worry about the transport issue; as I'm not in the wedding party, I can spend the time you'll be spending doing wedding stuff getting myself wherever I'd need to be to get there.

If that would be too inconvenient, though, I can seek other arrangements.

Hi Travis,

While I'd like to say yes I'm going to have to say that it's just going to be too crazy with running around and so on both the day before and the day itself for anyone to stay here. I really am sorry. :(

There are a few other Canberra gamers who might have space though. David & Dina, Xole & Andrew, Doychi. Also Sand and Ryan and Anestis might also be worth talking to.

And then there's Eric, with whom I've stayed several times in the past, and if I'd thought about it for more than a few minutes was always a more likely prospect than someone who had already expressed how busy she would be that weekend. No problem, don't worry at all about not being able to help out. There's plenty of ways to deal with this.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
