And then...

I did up a post about my trip to Arcanacon, and then decided it was too big for a single post, so it's been split up and back dated.

Preparation
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4
Finale

Overall I would have to say my only complaints are that the rooms are too small and there aren't enough of them (but there's not much they can do about that), and the little bit of a scheduling stuff up with regard to mine and Stephens games.

My game was 6 to 12 player, and was only scheduled once, while Stephens, a 15 to 30 player was scheduled twice. Talking with a few of the orgs it seems most likely that it was nothing more than confusion between the two games since Stephen and I tend to help each other. No real problem.

The canteen was excellent. The food was plentiful, there was a great variety, and there was a good selection of healthy stuff for those who wanted it (like me). It was only afterwards that I discovered that Hilary only took on the job of organising the canteen a week before the con, so she did an exceptional job! Congratulations!

Now I'm just in the normal post-con broke section. With only working 5 out of the last ten working days due to the con and then the Australia Day holiday, and then I have a day off next week due to a special event, and then a day off the week after due to Mum and Dad moving (yay!), it's going to take a while before I'm financial again, and then it's down to Melbourne for Conquest.

I must be nuts.

One 'L' :p
It's Hilary... stupid parents who insisted on giving me the male variation of the name!

And glad you liked the food.

One "L' it is then. Fixed in both places.

The food was excellent. What more can I say?

Don't worry, you didn't sound snappy.

I'm used to misspellings on names. My brother's name is Glenn (note the double 'n') and Mum had to keep sending school report card and the like back because they kept on spelling his name wrong.

And, no, you haven't mentioned you hate your name, but I can understand. I hate my name as well (Andrew John Jones - boring!) which is one of the main reasons I go by Aj most of the times.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
