Don't you hate it when you go out with the deliberate intention to spend money, and come back and the only thing you've spent is time?

Due to a variety of reasons I had decided on the weekend that I was going to go out and buy myself an Apple iPod Nano 4G. None of the places I went to had them. Most of them had the 2G model, but not the 4G model. Since the 2G model is $299 and the 4G model is 20% more ($359) for double the capacity, there was no way I was buying a 2G model. After running around all weekend trying to find one and not succeeding, I eventually gave up and went to the apple.com.au shop and bought one online.

The cheapest I had ever seen the 4G model for was $355, a huge saving of $4. Since I think I had wasted more than $4 worth of petrol running around trying to find one I figured I may as well get a "full price" one. However, the apple store included free postage and free engraving on the back, so I think it was probably worth it.

I also ordered an arm-band holder for the Nano, and the Nano dock.

This morning while I was having a shower there was a knock on the door. It was a delivery from apple with the arm-band holder and the dock. Considering I only ordered it Sunday night, which means they wouldn't have been able to do anything with the order until they started work Monday morning, I am very impressed.

Now just to wait for the Nano itself to arrive. I should get here by the end of next week at the latest, but hopefully will be here by Friday.

I wouldn't be holding my breath - the stated delivery times on Apple's website are quite often outright lies, especially for anything new and/or popular. It took 3 months for me to get the Mac Mini, which had a stated delivery time of 2 weeks. And Apple's attitude when I called about it was "So what? Where else ya gonna go?"

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
