When I finished Uni (mid 1996), one of the first things I did was get a credit card so I could get an internet account. In those day the Internet was a very new and amazing thing.
I got the account through Powerup
and I've had it ever since.
When I got Cable three years ago, I kept the Powerup account, but transferred it over to a casual account, just in case I needed it. In those three years I've never actually used it.
As a result, I finally decided to close the account.
Now, when I transferred it over to the casual account, there were actually two reasons behind it. One was just in case I needed it. The second reason was because I could transfer account types on the internet, but to close the account I had to ring the accounts department, and that was something to be avoided at all costs.
In all the time I was with Powerup, the technical side of the service has always been good. Good tech support, good setup, etc. The accounts department however was appalling, and that hasn't changed.
After half an hour on the phone with them, including being put on hold twice, I finally got the account (which hasn't been used in over three years) closed.
