eBay is evil

As many of you probably know, I am a very big fan of Ian Roberts (the guy in the icon).

He's an ex-football player, who came out as a gay man while still playing, plus he's very good looking.

I keep an eye out on eBay as to any Ian Roberts items that come up, and I do tend to buy a lot of them.

However, this just popped up. Argh! I want it, I can afford it, but do I?

this is what you get when I'm trying not to write an assignment :)
Hmm that is a lot of money for a print, but it is supporting a good cause. I guess I'd ask myself would I donate that much money to the cause? If not then do I want a large photo of this person on my wall for a long time? I suspect that while you are rather enamoured of the print right now it may become dated fairly quickly. Personally if I wasn't inclined to support the charity I'd rather buy something a bit more classical. (I would consider that this might be a reminder of a body I wanted to have or had and don't have anymore or intimidate prospective partners by proclaming my expectations or fantasy so vividly.)
The other question is are you buying it on credit or do you have the money saved up? If it's from savings what were you saving for?

No, I probably wouldn't normally donate that much to any cause. I'm more interested in the print itself than any cause it's associated with.

As for whether I want a large photo of him on my wall for a long time, I already have this and this one on my wall, and have had for a while (the first at least four years, the second six months or so). So, I don't think there will be a problem with that. :)

As for how, it would be on credit, which I was intending to not use unless something very important came up. So the question is, do I consider that this print is that "something important"?

That's what I have to sleep on, I think.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
