I'm me!

And I can prove it too!

The paperwork finally arrived last night, so I have the Change of Name Certificate, finally.

Also in the mail last night was a cheque from Cafepress.com for $83 US for all the sales I'm made lately.

So I wandered down to the bank and deposited the cheque ($112.05 Aus minus $10 processing fee) and then updated my accounts with the new name. So, the first one if done, just another couple hundred (well, not quite that many) to go...

Most places let you do it over the phone...
Only the Bank, the RTA, and the Real Estate agent asked me for copies of my birth Cert...
It's pretty easy, you just wait until you get a bill, call the customer service number that is printed on it, and tell them that you are Random now.

Mostly I'll be doing that, I just figured that the bank would want to actually see the Change of Name certifacte.

What surprised me was that the ATO didn't. You just change it on your next tax return.
OH! I also found that I had to add a special note to my bank account listing my former name. That way, when people forget and send you cheques or make deposits in your old name, they will be OK with that.
The organ Donor register was the most difficult. I still haven't managed that... I'm onto my fourth form... it's still sitting at home waiting to be filled out and returned. Somehow they all got misfiled, or not entered.

can't you just re-register with the Organ Donor people under your new name??

You'd think that it would be that easy...
Unfortunatly my medicare number is still the same, so the system bounces it.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
