Grr

I put my phone in for repairs a week and a half ago, and got it back Thursday last week.

I was hoping this would be the last of the problem, but it seems not. Again I have no connection on the phone, yet it's saying that it's on 4 bars signal strength.

paradigmshifty, did you say you had a 3 capable phone spare that I can borrow? If so, can you send it to me? I'll pay for postage for it.

Can do. It's a Motorola 3x Razr in black.

10Q.

I'll use it for a while and see if it does the same thing. If it does then I know that the problem is with 3. If it doesn't, then I know the problem is with this phone.

I'll find all the bits and send it up tomorrow or Wednesday.

Does the phone come with software (and an appropriate cable) that will allow it to sync with Microsoft Outlook? Cause if it does, that means I don't have to enter any of my phone numbers into the phone.

Spoke with Three again, and they're out of ideas. If this loan phone does the same thing, then it's a problem with the network and will have have to leave Three. If it doesn't do it (and I'm intending to give it at least two weeks to check) then there must be a problem with my current phone and I'm going to ask to get it replaced.

Software - yes, cable - can't remember. I don't use this phone. It is Bluetooth capable though, so you can get it done that way.

It's more likely a phone problem than a network one, otherwise they would have more reports of it. Especially as part of Three's network is Telstra.

Well, part of the problem is that I am right on the edge of a Three network zone, and it drops out when it's switching between the Three network and the Telstra network.

I beleive it's a phone problem as well, whether it's a problem with that individual phone, or that make/model I don't know. We will see what happens.

The phone does it in areas other than that edge area, from what you've said. So I doubt it's that.

3 has been a real pain in the ass ... we upgraded from Orange to a shiny new Motorola V3X.

The phone is buggy - there's a firmware upgrade that you can get, but you have to take it to a specific place to do it.

The network is ... well, a kind person would say "patchy". With Orange on CDMA, I had beautiful reception pretty much everywhere. Now, I can walk from one end of my small office to another and lose the signal completely. So it's not just you - the 3 network seems to have very large holes in it.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
