Going away present?

Hmm...

I'm here for less than two weeks, so the people at work are trying to work out what to get me for a going away present. The problem is, there's nothing that I really need that they normally give people.

I don't need a new cutlery set or a new dinner set and I already have enough blankets and doonas. So, they have asked me for some suggestions as to what I would want, and to be honest I can't think of anything that I would ask for.

So, any suggestions?

Better idea, how about both of them! :)

Though the tattooed one was definitely my pick of the two.

So, be honest, say there is truly nothing you need. That you'd just like to have morning tea / afternoon tea / drinkies [yes, I know, you don't drink] with them.

Or you could ask for socks & jocks, a new litter box or a bag of cat food, just to see what they'll say...

Cost limit?

A PDA, a donation to your favourite charity, mail redirection for 6 months, the special edition of your favourite movie, a petrol card/grocery credit for emergencies on arrival, a return ticket home to visit.... need more?

Don't use the first, and I already have the second (though, to be honest, it's packed somewhere in one of the boxes that have already gone to Melbourne, so not helping me much).

Hmm...

No, there's no one in the office that I'd want to give me that.

My workmates gave me a gift card, valid at a whole bunch of places. It made sense, because transporting it wasn't a worry. One of the places it is valid is Officeworks, and I had intended to use it to pay for the printing of The Hijack of Patient Zero. You know how that turned out...

Actually, that's a really good idea. Thanks.

Well, the card in question is a Coles Group & Myer Gift Card. It's valid at Myer, Coles, Choice, Vintage Cellars, Target, Kmart, LiquorLand and Officeworks. Just FYI.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
