Dad has three sisters, and Pat was Dads oldest by about a year, with the other two being younger. I only got to meet her once, when the entire family went over to Canada for 6 weeks when I was 13, so I didn't know her that well.
Glenn (my brother) knew her better as has visited a number of time since the family trip. Even so, it's still sad to hear.
It was actually good timing, as it were. Mum and Dad are actually over there at the moment on holidays. The entirety of Dads side of the family was gathered on Thursday for Emma's graduation (Emma being the youngest daughter of Max, Dad's youngest sister) and they got a lot of good photos of the four of them (Pat, Dad, Lucy and Max).
Pat was found Friday evening in her chair. It looks like she had fallen asleep and never woken up.
The funeral was Tuesday and Mum and Dad were still there, and were travelling on to the next part of their trip straight afterwards, so it's good that they got a chance to say goodbye.
They've created a memorial to her on the Make Everlasting Memories website. As far as I can tell I'm only in one photo, and that's a fairly old one (the 14th photo along), but Dad and Glenn are in more recent ones.
Dad has three sisters and Mum has two, and Pat is the first of that generation in my family to pass on.
I didn't know her well, but am still saddened.
