It's an electric car. However, more than that, it's an electric sports car. Yes, you heard right, an electric sports car.
It can do 0 to 60mph (100kph) in under 4 seconds, it does the equivalent of 135 miles per gallon (a fantastic 0.0174 liters per km), does an average of about 245 miles per charge (395 km) and costs less than 2c a mile to run.
The car is assembled by Lotus and looks really good. They've even managed to incorporate Regenerative Braking. That is, putting your foot on the brakes actually puts some charge back into the battery as the lost kinetic energy is converted back into potential energy for later.
Two down sides though.
Firstly, they are expensive, as you would expect. The "base model" (which really isn't that base as there's not that much more you can add to it) is $98,000 US. If you add all the options, it's a grand total of $108,275.
Secondly is that it's only available in mainland USA.
However, it certainly looks like a fantastic car. I want one!
