Ouch!

In case you haven't heard, the American Republican party have been using the 70's hit song "Barracuda" by Heart during a number of parts of their campaign as a congratulatory theme for Sarah Palin.

Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart sent a cease-and-desist notice to the Republican Party early this month telling them to stop it.

The Republican party have not stopped it.

Cease and Desist, You Old Fart.

No idea what paper it was printed in, so I'm waiting for a little bit more confirmation, but still...It was printed in the Seattle Stranger, but I haven't been able to find anything on their website. Spoof or real?

I live here. I've read the Stranger for years. That sounds exactly like their page 3 editor having a load of fun. I'm pretty sure the sentiment is Ann and Nancy's, but the language is pure Dan Savage.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
