Water, water everywhere...

I'm a little bit concerned.

I grew up in St George, in outback Queensland. Mum and Dad retired to the coast some years ago, but my brother Glenn still lives out there (and bought Mum and Dad's house).

St George is currently experiencing it's worst flood in over 120 years.

Luckily Glenn is currently visiting Mum and Dad on the coast (where it is also very, very wet) so he's not there, but it's still worrying me.

The Balonne Shire Council earlier today released a map of the evacuation area. St George isn't that much bigger than that total map area. Technically Glenn's house is included in the risk area (He lives on the corner of Alfred and Howe Streets in the top right of the map, right where the big thick black line goes). If the water ends up any where near his house, the town is in serious trouble.

Desert Rose

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of fire
Those dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire

This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love

I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this

Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of the fall
